So the first issue is that the package isn't called gdal. If you apt-get<br>
install gdal-bin and python-gdal you'll probably get what you need.<br>

A little cleanup of your repos would help too. Remove the current<br>
ubuntugis repo (stable) that you have from /etc/apt/sources.list.d/<br>
Also remove the <a href="http://qgis.org" target="_blank">qgis.org</a> repos, mixing <a href="http://qgis.org" target="_blank">qgis.org</a> and ubuntugis can lead<br>
to confusion and mismatches.<br>
<br>
Then do:<br>
sudo apt-add-repository ppa:ubuntugis/ubuntugis-unstable<br>
sudo apt-get update<br>
sudo apt-get install gdal-bin python-gdal<br>
