As a fast workaround, you can add the nightly build QGIS with Ubuntugis dependencies.
This morning I did the standard updates and broke my QGIS installation.

repository is on ppa:ubuntugis/ubuntugis-unstable

Purged QGIS and Grass.
When I re-install qgis via apt or synaptic there is an unmet dependency:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
qgis : Depends: libgdal.so.1-1.11.1 but it is not installable
Recommends: qgis-plugin-globe but it is not going to be installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

In the published packages ( https://launchpad.net/~ubuntugis/+archive/ubuntu/ubuntugis-unstable?field.series_filter=trusty ) I see gdal 1.11.2.

Might this be a problem and how to correct?

Thanks a lot. Albert
