Geographic Information Science & Technology has gained importance over the past years. The challenge is to better align GI S&T curricula at the academic level and in vocational training offers, with the needs of the GI job market.

GI N2K (funded by the EU Erasmus Lifelong Learning Program) is an extensive network of 31 partners from 25 countries from the academic and non-academic sector linking up with associated partners from the broader industry, major GI associations and individual experts. GI-N2K builds upon the existing Geographic Information Science and Technology Body of Knowledge (GI S&T BoK) that was developed by the American University Consortium for Geographic Information Science , published in 2006 by the Association of American Geographers . The 'BoK' will be updated and brought into line with the new technological developments and the European perspective ( e.g. importance of INSPIRE in Europe). The project will analyse the current market demands with regard to the knowledge and skills and compare them with the current training offer in the GI S&T sector. The existing GI S&T Body of Knowledge will be used as a starting point, updated and brought in line with new technological developments, and with the European perspective in mind. More details of the project at http://www.gi-n2k.eu/the-project/

As part of this aim, GI-N2K is pleased to invite you to complete the following surveys:

* A questionnaire about workforce demand in Geographic Information Science and Technology

* A questionnaire regarding the supply of teaching about Geographic Information Science and Technology

Both surveys can be accessed via http://www.gi-n2k.eu/surveys/

We greatly appreciate your help with the surveys and apologise if you received the multiple emails about this survey. Each survey takes 15 minutes to complete and will provide valuable information for shaping our domain. For the workforce demand survey, we welcome inputs from all users and experts of GIS in public and private organisations (government organisations, SMEs etc), so please participate. The survey closes on 5th Feb 2014.

On behalf of GI-N2K consortium , i thank you in advance for your time and collaboration.

Best wishes,

Suchith
