Looks good to me. Maybe add something about the editor being the
administrator of a "news.osgeo.org" project, and having a liason role on
the Web Committee?

Do we have the ability to offer rss feeds?

Subject: [Web Comm] News editor wanted for OSGeo

Here is my email to send to discuss. Please, review.

The OSGeo is looking for volunteer to be the primary news editor for
OSGeo.org.

The tasks are as follows:

o Post the news items to the news archive and a summary to the
front page of osgeo.org
o Maintain the RSS feed for articles
o Solicit news articles from membership
o Work with secondary editors for translations to other
languages
o Minor editing of news articles as needed or suggesting changes
back to authors
o Set a theme for articles on a quarterly basis
o Post news announcements from the board and committees

Why do do this? There are a lot of reasons, here are a few:
o Meet with and interact with the news makers
o Put your own spin on things with a "letter from the editor"
column
o Show your dedication to the OSGeo community
o Hone your skills as a technical editor

Please contact Daniel Brookshier at dbrookshier at collab.net to volunteer
