We can try out whatever we want. There were several attempts at creating some kind of membership registry but we never passed the "cool idea" stage. Many people use the Wiki, it has the user pages so we might just as well use it. Unfortunately we work with user ids that are not matched with the OSGeo users coming from the ldap.
 
If you think that tagging user pages with [[Catgeory:Spanish Chapter]] or committee membership tags to help community cohesion - go for it. This will probably only work if you get past a threshold of interested people & I have no idea what that threshold is. We are currently find out for general OSGeo membership. From what I see until now the interest is rather moderate... :-)
