Dear Gérald,

Thanks for your comment. You have a point, it was probably not the best
point in time to propose to cancel this years benchmark. But I don't
think it is too late for anything. I will gladly submit an abstract to
this years FOSS4G about the ongoing benchmarking efforts. We could at
least present some intermediate results. But I'd have to ask one of you
guys to present. Any volunteers?
Several interesting applications using WPS-1.0 standard have come out in
since FOSS4G-2014. Also WOP-2.0.0 Interface Standard [1] has become
available in 2015 but very little discussion on this forum regarding
this.

I would propose in going ahead with the WPS shoot-out with teams that
plan to be present at FOSS4G-2015. In the absence of the appointed Sheriff, Ex-Sheriff, Gerald could take up task of organizing and presenting the results not only to keep the momentum going but
attracting new developers from Asia.
Dear Benjamin,
I have to admit my disappointment that the WPS Shootout won’t happen
this year and that you won’t come to Seoul (if I got your point it is
mainly because it not directly right around the corner, which sounds
quite limitative to me).

As an experienced team in organizing the benchmark, we make this
Shootout effort since 2011, I have to admit my surprise of sharing
this kind of informations two days before the FOSS4G submissions
deadline. This does not give much time to organize something similar
by someone else. I think we should have known this information sooner
if that was possible. But anyway, as it is too late now to organize
anything else and I don’t see any other people interested in having it
happening speaking loudly on this mailing list unfortunately, I guess
I have to understand that it won’t happen this year.

I would like to sat that it was a real pleasure for me personally to
be part of this group effort in 2011, 2013 and 2014 and it was a
benefit for the WPS project I work on to be part of this effort.

Anyway, I really hope this won’t be the step where all our benchmark
*group* efforts will stop and it will be a new starting point for us.

Best regards,
Dear WPS developers,

As you may know, I am responsible for the next WPS benchmark. The
results usually are presented at the international FOSS4G conference.
This time it takes place in Seoul. I will not be able to travel there
and so I cannot perform my sheriff duties. The FOSS4G 2016 will take
place in Bonn, which is right around the corner from where I work.
This is one reason why I would propose to skip the 2015 WPS
benchmark. The other reason is that we will have more time to set up
the benchmark/test plan.
I think there is already a good basis that hopefully will be extended
with OGC compliance tests, maybe also for WPS 2.0.
We are also planning to write a peer-reviewed paper about WPS
interoperability which could hopefully be connected to the benchmark
in some way.
Writing the tests and paper will take some time and so I hope you can
understand why I propose to skip this year.
Let me know, if you have any comments or questions. I also will give
you status updates via this list.

Cheers,
