I am keen on giving some input on FOSS GIS, I could maybe re-work the
workshop I gave at the Opensource Geospatial Summit this year.

Thanks,

Dewald.

P.S. Gavin: Can I mail you directly about this ???

Hi all

See the message below. Any takers for giving some FOSS GIS input into the
event?

Gavin

Dear Members

GISSA have been looking for a way to improve the awareness of GIS,
particularly amongst schools now that GIS is part of the curriculum. We have
become aware of the Science Unlimited initiative
[www.scienceunlimited.co.za] started by Richard Chernis in 2004. Their
vision is to offer the youth a life-changing experience by opening a wide
and exciting window on science and technology. The format is a week of
presentations/workshops plus a hall full of exhibitors. There were more than
40000 visitors last year, including 250 schools. The next event will take
place at the Tshwane Events Centre 3-7 March 2008.

GISSA is extremely excited about this opportunity to interact with learners,
teachers and the general public. We therefore intend to host a stand in the
hall, and will also be making daily presentations to (1) support the
teachers with their GIS education and (2) a basic introduction to the
wonders of GIS. We welcome and encourage support from all our members. We
attach the forms for registering as a speaker/presenter, plus the invitation
to exhibitors should your company wish to apply directly. Alternatively, you
can be part of the GISSA presence and assist us with our presentations and
the stand. We will need exciting demos, colourful maps, leaflets and just
your time and experience.

Many thanks
