keynotes, presentations, and Open Source Training options

Dear list members,
as earlier announced, the Summer School / Conference AGSE 2011
(http://www.applied-geoinformatics.org/) will take place next week in
Nairobi.
There will be a series of keynotes, plenary sessions, and workshops.
Keynotes:
- The Role of Geoinformatics in Africa’s National Planning and Development
- Participatory Digital Mapping in slum communities: Map Kibera and Map
Mathare
- Situs addressing in rapidly growing African cities: benefits,
prospects and challenges (to be confirmed)
- FOSS and development of IT business in Africa (as keynote or as
presentation)
- and Open Source GIS and GIS Cloud Computing – A Chance for Nations in
Transition? (as keynote or as presentation)
Presentation:
- 60 presentations on different fields of applied geoinformatics
Workshops (see http://www.applied-geoinformatics.org/):
- Introduction to ILWIS
- Workshop on Quantum GIS
- GPS: From data collection to the geo-database
- Python in three hours
- Implementing OGC conformant webservices using PostGIS and GeoServer
- Above Ground Biomass Estimation, based on Remote Sensing Methods for
CDM and REDD+
- An Introduction to Ecological Niche Modelling Using DIVA GIS
- Strategic process management for introducing GIS
In addition there will be workshops / presentation related to commercial
products:
- Working with ArcGIS in the Cloud
- Working with ArcGIS Mobile
- Writing Scripts in ArcGIS Using Python
- Using Flex Viewer for ArcGIS
- Simplified Image Processing Using ENVI Workflows
- ArcGIS and ENVI integration
