[OSGeo Africa] Fwd: Changing IT curriculum to Delphi: online petition

Dear Adi,

As a fellow "communist" trying to survive on a start-up business, I've also signed the petition! I cannot begin to afford ESRI or many proprietary programming and database products. I would have rather kids learn Python programming and Libre or Open Office instead of MS Office. Sorry to everybody for supporting this spam but I for one am glad you sent the link out.

With this new policy I can see a future with my boys being taught Python at home and Delphi in school--although confusing for them, in the end, they'll benefit!

Following the heated discussions on these mailing lists and the subsequent meeting at the Cape Town Chamber of Commerce, an online petition has been created to petition the use of Delphi in schools. Personally, I object to the use of MS Office and would prefer a petition against the use of proprietary software in schools in general but this is a good start. In reality, this may not result in any real change. It is important, that as a community, we raise our voices against a poorly made policy decision that has far reaching repercussions.
