[OSGeo Africa] help: Historical Spatial Cadastral Data

We have data for KwaZulu-Natal, going back several years. You are welcome to contact me directly- see my email address below.

You can contact the Spatial Database Managers at each SG office in the different provinces for the data they may have on hand, or you can contact the GIS Specialist at the Chief Surveyor General’s office- see the contact details at http://csg.dla.gov.za/contact.htm.

It would be a fair reflection of our data to say that historical datasets, especially from the 2000’s, represent a history of the capture of cadastral data in spatial format, rather than a history of cadastral data in spatial format. We went from zero data to the current dataset over a period of a number of years. While our goal is a complete, accurate dataset, we are continuously finding and correcting missing and inaccurate data. In other words, use historic data with caution.
