[OSGeo Africa] Clip data extent in QGIS

Is there a feature in QGIS that will limit the extent of a layer in a map
layout by using another layer without physically clipping the data.

e.g. my raster extent covers Southern Africa and I want to limit it to the
outline of the RSA without clipping the data

There is such a feature in ArcGIS, but cannot find one in QGIS.
