Dear Leeth
There are a number of places where you can get river information. Herein is
a few places: DWS (Rivers of South Africa - 1:500 000 (dws.gov.za)
<https://www.dws.gov.za/iwqs/gis_data/river/All.html> ) and BGIS (for
threat status of the riverine systems (2018 River ecosystem threat status
and protection level (Shapefile) - Biodiversity BGIS (sanbi.org)
Regarding the Digital Elevation Model: try to see if the SRTM datasets
would not work for you on the Earth Explorer website: EarthExplorer
(usgs.gov) <https://earthexplorer.usgs.gov/> but if you are looking for
vectors, i think NGI datasets (contours and elevation point data ) would be
best, you can contact them for the datasets (its free): CD:NGI Geoportal
(dalrrd.gov.za)
Kind Regards
Kagiso
