I don't mean any form of disrespect, but your original question is
very unclear and does not provide sufficient information for anyone to
act upon. You are emailing 1000s of people via this mailinglist.

What is the filename of the downloaded file? What site did you use?
As far as I know CDNGI do not directly offer the download of erdas
.img and .ige format files. I believe the
https://ngigeoportal.dlrrd.gov.za/cdngiportal/ does not allow
downloading extremely large files, largest is around 400MB. The
largest files on the portal are the ecw mosaic images and they cannot
be directly downloaded.
