analysis algorithms as I develop Remote Sensing practicals. We
installed QGIS 2.4 on our PCs through the standalone exe.
However I get an error stating I need to configure the OTB
folder. I assume this refers to the applications and command
lines tool folders. The online solutions I have found only seem
to work if QGIS was installed via OSGEO4w. Is there any solution
for the standalone version?<br>

I can't answer your question directly, but I am curious why you did
not install using OSGEO4w installer, as it is extremely flexible and
gives you easy access to all the OSGEO software, including the
dependencies they may have.<br>
If there is no real reason, then rather download/reinstall all the
required software onto 1 system using OSGEO4w, and then install on
the other PCs pointing OSGEO4w to this first system.<br>

Have you looked at Monteverdi?<br>
The great thing about it is that as you build up your command using
the GUI, it displays the command-line syntax that you could use
should you want to script a chain of processes.<br>
IMHO, all GIS students must learn to at least "script" if not
"programme", so this would also facilitate as an easy intro to
command line usage.<br>
(I use inverted commas because in the simplest case, stringing
together a bunch of command line commands in a BAT file is a script)<br>
