GeoServer is a server written in Java that allows users to share and edit
geospatial data. Designed for interoperability, it publishes data from any
major spatial data source using open standards. GeoServer is the reference
implementation of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) Web Feature Service

complete RIA-oriented JavaScript toolbox. The JavaScript toolbox is composed of
the ExtJS, OpenLayers, GeoExt JavaScript toolkits, and specific components for
interacting with MapFish web services. MapFish supports several OGC standards,
including WMS, WFS, WMC, KML and GML via GeoExt and OpenLayers.
