The Open Data Cube project has been accepted into the OSGeo Community
program.

The Open Source Geospatial Foundation is pleased to welcome the Open
Data Cube project [1] to our OSGeo Community program. The Open Data Cube
project is an open source geospatial data management and analysis
software project that helps harness the power of satellite data.

The OSGeo Community program recognizes applications and tools that are
geospatial, freely available with an open source license, and are setup
to collaborate fairly. This program helps OSGeo promote innovation and
the hard work of teams and organizations world-wide. “Thanks to the Open
Data Cube team for answering our questions, this is a really well
organized project and it is a pleasure to welcome the team to OSGeo.
Thanks to Bruce Bannerman and the incubation committee for moving this
forward!”, says OSGeo Incubation Chair Jody Garnett.

The Open Data Cube project addresses a growing domain for Earth
observation data exploitation platforms, increasing the usage and value
of satellite data, as well as providing tooling for the efficient data
preparation, access, and analysis of EO data. “The Open Data Cube has
been an integral component in Geoscience Australia’s Digital Earth
Australia and Digital Earth Africa programs, and has been used all over
the world by a range of institutions and individuals to make Earth
observation data easier to access”, adds Alex Leith, the Open Data Cube
Steering Council Chair.

About the Open Data Cube Initiative
-----------------------------------------------
The Open Data Cube initiative is supported by six institutional
partners: Geoscience Australia (GA), NASA / Committee on Earth
Observation Satellite (CEOS), United States Geological Survey (USGS),
Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO),
Catapult Satellite Applications, and Analytical Mechanics Associates
(AMA).

About the Open Source Geospatial Foundation
---------------------------------------------------------------
The Open Source Geospatial Foundation is not-for-profit 501(c)(4)
organization to empower everyone with open source geospatial. The
software foundation directly supports projects serving as an outreach
and advocacy organization providing financial, organizational and legal
support for the open source geospatial community.

OSGeo works with GeoCat and other sponsors, along with our partners to
foster an open approach to software, standards, data and education.
