From astrid_emde at osgeo.org Thu Sep 14 09:23:29 2023 From: astrid_emde at osgeo.org (Astrid Emde (OSGeo)) Date: Thu, 14 Sep 2023 16:23:29 +0000 Subject: [OSGeo-Announce] 2023 nominations for new OSGeo charter members Message-ID: <4f718a4581a9fb3896b6fbcb8d169801@posteo.de> Read news item at: https://www.osgeo.org/foundation-news/2023-nominations-for-new-charter-members/ Dear OSGeo charter members, It's time for the 2023 OSGeo elections, starting with the nomination for new Charter Members. The nomination period for new Charter Members will start on September 15th (next friday) and lasts three weeks, ending on October 6th. The voting period for new Charter Members will be announced at a later date, but it should be by the end of October. The same goes for the nomination and voting periods for Board members, which will take place a bit later. **Nomination procedure for charter members** Nominations are made by existing charter members (i.e. a nominee cannot nominate themself). Both the nominating member and the nominee must have an OSGeo LDAP account and a user profile in www.osgeo.org (a user profile page looks like e.g. https://www.osgeo.org/member/sanchez-ortega/ ). Visit https://www.osgeo.org/wp-login.php for both, and make sure that the information in your profile page is updated and correct, especially your e-mail address. If you don't have an OSGeo LDAP account, you'll need a "mantra" to create one. If this is the case, write an email to cro (at) osgeo.org to ask for a mantra, briefly mentioning your involvement/interest in OSGeo. To make a nomination, confirm with the nominee and then write an email to cro (at) osgeo.org including the information in the following template. Nominating person: Nominating e-mail: Nominating profile page: Nominee name: Nominee last name: Nominee e-mail: Nominee country: Nominee profile page: Nominee wiki page (optional): Nomination statement: This information and the nomination template can also be found at https://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/Election_2023 . **Request for retirement** If you wish to retire from being a charter member, let us know by writing to cro (at) osgeo.org . **CROs** The elections are handled by the Chief Returning Officer, or CRO. This year's CRO team is composed by Ivn Snchez and Luis de Sousa. It was first released in 2017 and presented at FOSS4G Europe that year. It has been continually developed since. With a new official version 1.0 released to celebrate becoming an OSGeo Community Project. Tom Kralidis (OSGeo Board member) says, ?it is exciting to see mappyfile in the OSGeo Community project ecosystem. mappyfile makes MapServer mapfiles fully composable with minimum dependencies. This has proven very flexible and powerful for projects with real-time and automated workflows. Congratulations and welcome mappyfile!?. mappyfile can be used to easily update and adapt Mapfiles for different environments and datasets. It is a Python library with no dependencies on MapServer and can easily be deployed to reformat and validate Mapfiles as part of a continuous integration pipeline. mappyfile includes Mapfile schemas for different versions of MapServer allowing Mapfiles to be easily migrated to newer versions of MapServer. If you are using many Mapfiles across different environments and projects please give mappyfile a try! An online-editor built on mappyfile is available at https://app.mapserverstudio.net/.
