Dear OSGeo charter members,

It's time for the 2023 OSGeo elections, starting with the nomination
for new Charter Members.

The nomination period for new Charter Members will start on September
15th (next friday) and lasts three weeks, ending on October 6th.

The voting period for new Charter Members will be announced at a later
date, but it should be by the end of October. The same goes for the
nomination and
voting periods for Board members, which will take place a bit later.

**Nomination procedure for charter members**

Nominations are made by existing charter members (i.e. a nominee
cannot nominate themself).

Both the nominating member and the nominee must have an OSGeo LDAP
account and a user profile in www.osgeo.org (a user profile page looks
like e.g. https://www.osgeo.org/member/sanchez-ortega/ ). Visit
https://www.osgeo.org/wp-login.php for both, and make sure that the
information in your profile page is
updated and correct, especially your e-mail address.

If you don't have an OSGeo LDAP account, you'll need a "mantra" to
create one. If this is the case, write an email to cro (at) osgeo.org
to ask for a mantra,
briefly mentioning your involvement/interest in OSGeo.

To make a nomination, confirm with the nominee and then write an email
to cro (at) osgeo.org including the information in the following
template.

Nominating e-mail: <your e-mail>
Nominating profile page: <your profile page in the OSGeo website>

Nominee name: <nominee's name(s)>
Nominee last name: <nominee's last name(s)>
Nominee e-mail: <nominee e-mail>
Nominee country: <nominee country at time of nomination>
Nominee profile page: <nominee profile page in the OSGeo website>
Nominee wiki page (optional): <nominee wiki page in the OSGeo wiki>
Nomination statement: <paragraph describing why you are recommending 
this
person as a Charter Member. Please include details about the positive
attributes of the nominee>

**Request for retirement**

If you wish to retire from being a charter member, let us know by
writing to cro (at) osgeo.org .


**CROs**

The elections are handled by the Chief Returning Officer, or CRO. This
year's CRO team is composed by Ivn Snchez and Luis de Sousa.
