Thanks Cameron,
I look forward to hearing further from you.
In the meantime, a quick update that I have heard back from the Victoria
Convention Centre. In general they suggested the conference set up was
quite straight forward but with a lot of exhibits and perhaps longer set
up and tear down time, due to the computers but that the group was very
international and great to work with!
Their main point of guidance for us was the challenge of the number of
internet connections the group uses. Virtually everyone who attended
the conference had some type of connective device and that really put
their ability to the test. As this is such an important part of your
conference I have contacted each of the venues we are considering again
and asked them to ensure that the technical content of their proposals
are as detailed as possible in terms of capacity and facilities.
I might take the opportunity to do a little recap of deadlines and
important dates:
Submission Deadline :
12 January 2008 - SCVB to submit final document
Marie-Claire Annual Leave:
17 December - 12 January (Other colleagues will be here for assistance
but if at all possible, I would really like us to have
completed everything before I go)
Updated Bid Document Complete
12 December-Marie-Claire
Complete Bid Document (including profiles, industry information,
potential sponsors) 6 December - Bid Committee
Venue inspections completed
23 November - Marie-Claire and members from Bid Committee
Review of venues visited and decision on venue for inclusion in Bid
Document 30 November - Bid Committee
Draft Bid Document
Already Completed And Emailed to Everyone
Best Wishes
Marie-Claire

Marie-Claire,
I expect to have some time toward the end of the week to review and
provide content to your bid document.
I've also been talking with Jeff Waugh of Linux Australia fame who was
very enthusiastic. He will be a great drawing card for the bid, and
sounds like he is interested in helping out.
