Regarding sponsor involvement in the OSGEO stand...

We have the stand next to OSGEO, so we're in a bit of a different
position from the other sponsors, I suspect.

>From my point of view, I think it is important to get OSGEO at these
conferences and to support open source software, and I would not expect
anything to be made of our sponsorship except for our company name
somewhere on the booth.

I'm happy to provide you with some OS case study material if it helps to
sell the OS message, but I would not expect you to display and hand out
our own marketing materials on our non-OS products.

We've now got three companies who have stepped up to the plate and
offered sponsorship for our stand at WALIS;
* Gaia Resources
* Lat/Lon GmbH
* Maunsell

In addition, we also have Autodesk who have already provided
considerable resources in terms of printed material, T-shirts and
signage.

In return, we need to provide an opportunity at the stand for sponsors
to show their support. As we don't have a policy on what's acceptable,
I'd like to put my ideas to the list for your thoughts. At the least, I
feel we should have have a sign (about A1 size?) on the back wall of
the booth with sponsors names and logos.

Given we will be running demos of open source geospatial software, It
would probably be a good thing to allow sponsors to run branded demos on
a laptop (subject to booth space) showing how they use open source in
their business or in the case of sponsors like Autodesk open source
products they provide or support.

In the absence of a demo (or in addition to?) should we also allow each
sponsor an A4 brochure at the stand that outlines their services/
products? Does if matter if those services/products don't include any
open source?

Regards,
Tim Bowden
