Hi Byron,
Let me add to that that what you call the FAO trunk actually is the  
OSGeo GeoNetwork opensource trunk. GeoNetwork opensource went through  
incubation at OSGeo and as such became an OSGeo project with a Project  
Steering Committee that has members from the community and not just FAo.
