Very cool.

As mentioned in the email Integeo uses GeoServer (as a standards compliant visualisation option for BIRT or other BI system). They have been active in issuing bug reports; and helping test some of the more advanced features such as WMS-C. Currently they are a role model for open source participation in Australia.

We have been looking to improve the relationship with respect to testing GeoServer prior to release (as we would hate to break their commercial project). For any companies using GeoServer stop by the devel list and let us know you are available for testing (it is by far the most efficient way to get issues resolved).

Aside: really good to see a formal connection to Actuate. Actuate was BI company who had tones of experience prior to their heading up the BIRT project. I find it amusing that BIRT has now eclipsed their other offerings to the point they need to mention it in their company tagline :-)

Open source applications are now not just for the cash-strapped organizations but studies show that they are already going mainstream. The applications ranges from CRM, ERP, BI, and also geospatial solutions.

As is commonly recognized, 80% of data has the geospatial component and this can be used to enhance the BI user experience with map displays and spatial analysis.
