Anti,
I expect that I'll have to train people.
I look for people who have skills in Spatial and IT within an enterprise services environment, as well as having a good understanding of Open Spatial standards (particularly OGC) and open source spatial.
I don't necessarily look for people with GeoServer skills alone, as anyone with a good understanding of another Spatial Server environment and the necessary OGC and spatial background will be able to pick up that application (and other os spatial apps that will undoubtedly follow).

Hi all,
I would be interested in hearing about how organisations using Geoserver
maintain staff skills and training.
We are contemplating extending use of Geoserver which will involve
greater access staff to Geoserver configuration and adminstration. My
prior experience shows that a combination of GIS and ICT skill gets the
best results.
There is some Geoserver specific training available, but I'm also of the
view that more generic training in OGC standards and a bit of
XML/services/J2EE might be more readily available and reasonably
suitable.
Thanks,
Antti
