I have been running http://www.meetup.com/osgeo-aust-nz/ for the last couple of years. And while it was handy for setting up the unconference … it is not seeing that much use.
Are we interested in maintaining this page? I can let it go next time it comes up in the billing cycle ($45 every three months).
Or there is an opportunity to list sponsors (currently I just have OSGeo listed as a sponsor as a way to link back to the main organisation).
If we would like to accept sponsorship here are some ideas:
- check with your organisation to see if they would be willing to sponsor (if there is no interest we don't need to get into specifics)
- I would peg sponsorship at $45 (i.e. to cover three months)
- List the sponsors that have volunteered on the meet up site on the page
- Highlight a sponsor for the three months they are covering (or let them have a promotion link to members for that month)
Aside: I have proposed a meet up to unpack open layers 3 (http://www.meetup.com/osgeo-aust-nz/events/116239862/)(for anyone like me who needs to brush up on modern JavaScript library design in order to approach the new codebase. A lot of work has been done to make the library testable.)
