[Geoinquiets Barcelona] Carta abierta de OSGeo sobre formatos de LIDAR

Un poco más de información.

Se ha difundido un correo de la Fundación OSGeo sobre el tema.

En concreto Cameron Shorter nos lo ha hecho llegar a los que firmamos
ya la petición para que ESRI no se apropiara de la definición de
geoservicios REST.

Creemos que es importante que este tipo de propuestas, definiciones de
formatos e implementaciones sigan en el lado «abierto» del negocio y
no puedan ser apropiados por nadie.

Adjunto el correo de Cameron:

You might remember signing the OSGeo Open Letter [1] protesting ESRI's
attempt to duplicate OGC standards in introducing the GeoServices Rest
API? Thanks to the open letter, along with public pressure from within
OGC and the greater spatial community, ESRI backed down.

Guess what? ESRI is at it again, this time creating a proprietary
equivalent for Open LiDAR standards.

We want to stop this, and are hoping that you will help us by signing
another Open Letter[2], which we plan to present to the OGC, and ESRI,
(and get published by mainstream media).
