  Call for presentations

Help make our 2025 edition a success. Send in your proposal for a 
presentation at FOSS4G Belgium before 21 July 2025!

We aim for a wide variety of speakers: technology, science, end users 
and interesting (or special) uses. We would like to make this another 
conference with a high degree of diversity, both in topics and in people.

A few considerations about presentations:

  *

    The presentations are 25 minutes including a short Q&A session, so
    prepare well for 20 minutes.

  *

    Make a clear point about what you want to say.

  *

    Focus on the most important message (or story) that you want to
    convey to your audience.

Is that short? Yes, but that keeps it exciting and varied. Afterwards 
there will be plenty of time to chat (over a drink) and engage in 
discussion. And let's face it, it's more fun if you let someone go home 
amazed at the new things they saw...


    Possible topics

    What's new in the in the OSGeo world?

  *

    How do you use open source geospatial tools (QGIS, PostGIS, gdal,
    Proj, MapGuide, Mapproxy,...) ?

  *

    How do you store, treat and/or web distribute spatial data?

  *

    How do open source tools allow you to successfully implement
    geospatial solutions?

  *

    How to build an effective Open Source solution?

  *

    How do you manage geospatial solutions with open source tools?

  *

    How do you use open geospatial data? How do you use OpenStreetMap or
    other open data in your work? Did you create a cool application with
    open data? Are you an OpenStreetMap geek and would like to discuss
    OSM specifics?

  *

    Which Open Geomatics tools are deployed and used by administrations,
    companies, teachers and researchers?

  *

    What are the problems and opportunities that you encountered during
    migration from commercial software to open source software?

  *

    All other open geospatial and FOSS4G topics we didn't mention above.


    Format of presentations

Presentations will take place in English, Dutch or French. Each 
individual presentation will be allowed about 20 minutes and 5 minutes 
for Q&A. Submissions can be written in English, French or Dutch.


    Submission

Proposals for presentations should be submitted usingthis form

    Deadline

Deadline for submission is 21 july 2025, but we invite presenters to 
submit their proposals as soon as possible. Proposals will be evaluated 
by a program committee and authors will be notified of their acceptance.

All the presentations will be made available on the event website.


    How do we evaluate?

The choice of presentations will be based on the quality of the 
submitted material, its interest for professional and student audiences 
and also its consistency with the program. The decision of the selection 
committee will be final and binding. Committee members speak on their 
own behalf, their choices do not reflect the position of their employer.

  Oproep voor presentaties

Help ons om van de editie van 2025 een succes te maken. Stuur jouw 
voorstel voor een presentatie in voor 21 juli 2025

We mikken op een grote variatie aan sprekers: technologie, wetenschap, 
eindgebruikers en interessante (of bijzondere) gebruiksdoeleinden. We 
maken er graag opnieuw een conferentie van met een grote mate van 
diversiteit, zowel in onderwerpen als in mensen.

Een paar overwegingen in verband met presentaties:

  *

    De presentaties zijn 25 minuten inclusief een kort vragenrondje, dus
    bereid 20 minuten goed voor.

  *

    Maak een duidelijk punt van wat je wil vertellen.

  *

    Focus op de belangrijkste boodschap (of verhaal) dat je mee wil
    geven aan je publiek.

Is dat kort? Ja, maar dat houdt het spannend en afwisselend. Achteraf is 
er ruim tijd om (met een drankje erbij) na te praten en de discussie aan 
te gaan. En laten we wel wezen, het is leuker als je iemand verbaasd 
naar huis laat gaan, zich verwonderend over de nieuwe dingen die die 
gezien heeft...


    Mogelijke onderwerpen

  *

    Wat is er nieuw in de OSGeo wereld?

  *

    Hoe gebruik jij open source GIS tools (QGIS, PostGIS, gdal, Proj,
    MapGuide, Mapproxy,...)?

  *

    Hoe sla jij ruimtelijke data op en hoe behandel en/of distribueer je
    die data?

  *

    Hoe laten open source tools jou toe om succesvol GIS oplossingen te
    implementeren?

  *

    Hoe bouw je een effectieve open source oplossing?

  *

    Hoe beheer je GIS toepassingen met open source tools?

  *

    Hoe gebruik jij ruimtelijke open data? Hoe gebruik jij OpenStreetMap
    of andere open data in je werk? Heb je een coole applicatie
    ontwikkeld met open data? Ben je een OpenStreetMap geek en wil je
    discussiëren over OSM specificaties?

  *

    Welke open geomatica tools zijn in gebruik bij administraties,
    bedrijven, leerkrachten en onderzoekers?

  *

    Wat zijn de problemen en opportuniteiten die je tegenkwam bij de
    migratie van commerciële software naar open source software?

  *

    Alle andere open source GIS en FOSS4G onderwerpen die we hierboven
    nog niet noemden.


    Formaat van de presentaties

Presentaties worden gegeven in het Engels, Nederlands of Frans. Elke 
presentatie krijgt ongeveer 20 minuten voor de presentatie en 5 minuten 
voor vragen. Voorstellen kunnen ingediend worden in het Nederlands, 
Frans of Engels

    Deadline

De deadline voor het insturen van voorstellen voor presentaties is 21 
juli 2025, maar we nodigen sprekers uit om hun voorstellen zo snel 
mogelijk in te sturen. Voorstellen zullen geëvalueerd worden door het 
programmacomité en de auteurs zullen bericht krijgen of hun bijdrage 
aanvaard werd.

Alle presentaties zullen op de website van het congres geplaatst worden.


    Evaluatiecriteria

De keuze van presentaties zal gebaseerd zijn op de kwaliteit van de 
ingestuurde voorstellen, de relevantie voor het publiek en de plaats 
binnen het programma. De keuze van het programmacomité is finaal en 
bindend. De beslissingen van het programmacomité reflecteren niet de 
mening van de eventuele werkgevers van de leden.

proposition avant le 21 juillet 2025!Nous sommes libres de couvrir une 
grande variété de publics et de sujets en lien avec la géomatique : 
techno, geek, use cases publics, privés ou professionnels.Notre objectif 
est de faire une conférence avec un haut degré de diversité, tant dans 
les sujets que dans les personnes.


      Quelques considérations à prendre en compte pour les présentations :

    Les présentations durent 25 minutes, y compris une courte session de
    questions-réponses, alors préparez-vous bien pendant 20 minutes.

  *

    Dites-nous clairement ce que vous voulez partager.

  *

    Concentrez-vous sur le message et la technologie principale que vous
    souhaitez transmettre à votre public.

  *

    Vingt minutes, c'est court ? Oui, mais cela doit rester passionnant
    et varié. Ensuite, vous aurez tout le temps de discuter (autour d'un
    verre) et d'engager des conversations.Et avouons-le, c'est plus
    amusant si vous laissez quelqu'un rentrer chez lui émerveillé par
    les nouvelles choses qu'il a vues...

    Comment utilisez-vous les outils SIG open source (QGIS, PostGIS,
    GDAL, Proj, MapGuide, MapProxy, etc.) ?

    Comment stockez-vous, traitez-vous et/ou diffusez-vous vos données
    spatiales sur le web ?

  *

    Comment les outils open source vous permettent-ils de mettre en
    œuvre des solutions SIG avec succès ?

  *

    Comment construire une solution open source efficace ?

  *

    Comment gérez-vous les solutions géospatiales avec des outils open
    source ?

  *

    Comment utilisez-vous les données géospatiales ouvertes ?Comment
    utilisez-vous OpenStreetMapou d'autres jeux de données ouverts dans

    Format des présentations

Les présentations se tiendront en anglais, le néerlandais ou le 
français. Chaque présentation disposera de 20 minutes et de 5 minutes 
pour les questions/réponses. Les propositions peuvent être soumises en 
néerlandais, en français ou en anglais.

    Date limite

La date limite de soumission est le 21 juillet 2025, mais nous invitons 
les présentateurs à soumettre leurs propositions dès que possible. Les 
propositions seront évaluées par le Comité du programme et les auteurs 
seront informés si leur contribution a été acceptée.


    Critère d'évaluation

Le choix des présentations sera basé sur la qualité des propositions 
soumises, leur pertinence pour le public et leur place dans le 
programme. Le choix du comité de programme est définitif et 
contraignant. Les décisions du comité de programme ne reflètent 
l'opinion d'aucun employeur des membres.
