[Benchmarking] RE: The IP and DNS issue on goliath

Mike, Paul,

It looks like the IP/DNS setting on 64.222.187.168 has changed since Tues.

/sbin/ifconfig returns 192.168.0.3
Hostname returns "goliath"

BUT

Both "nslookup goliath" and "nslookup goliath.benchmark" return UNKNOWN

This is causing the ArcGIS Server fail to work. (everything was working on Tuesday though)

Can you guys check that?

Sorry about that. Fixed on 2220.

Mike,

Thanks. I can log in 64.222187.168 at 2221 now. But I think I have the same problem on 64.222187.168 at 2220 too.

Thanks,
Yingqi

Mike,

I think my "ytang" has expired on machine 64.222.187.168, I've changed the password the first time I logged in. Can you renew it?

Thanks,
Yingqi

I can add that, I think. It will be a bit. I'm not at a computer. You could post on irc and see if one of the others can change it.

Mike,

The IP address issue is solved and the installation has moved on, but now we encountered another issue which is related the domain of the machine. Basically we need a fully qualified domain name for this host. So is there a domain suffix for this machine, something like goliath.localdomain?

Thanks,
Yingqi

OK. I've made changes and nslookup goliath does now return 192.168.0.3

We need the result of "nslookup goliath" to match the actual IP of that machine which is 192.168.0.3, instead of the DNS IP or UNKNOWN.

I can change whatever you need changed. I'm just not sure what you need changed for the install.

Mike,

Will it be possible for you to help us on this issue? Or if it is easier, we can setup a time today through IRC so that I can bring one coworker from our Linux team together.

Let me know.

Thanks,
Yingqi

Mike,

We've tried again and it still doesn't work. It's part of the ArcGIS Server Installation process that "nslookup 'hostname'" will be executed and it's expecting 192.168.0.3. Is there any way we can fix that on the server machine?

Thanks,
Yingqi
