I didn't know I got points for in-kind loudmouthisms, but I appreciate
the sentiment. But if it's true that activism is visible in people that
are not board members, then maybe I can still contribute ;-)

Well both yourself, and Gary, are a loss to the board on the grounds
that Dave notes; that a well-placed few words on occasion are 'worth'
as much as a lot of running around, and to have people of high external
stature associated, counts for a lot. Perhaps board membership
encourages activism but that activism is visible in a ton of people who
are not board members too.

This sounds terrific, it seems that a powerful vector for spread of open
source GIS, is for it to appear in the context of "e-government"
and to be taken up by one kind of government agency that can influence
others... as long as more of us get to share in all that Intelligence
eventually ;)
