I am of the same opinion as Michael that both groups can complement each
other well and we have a strong interest in trying to join forces with
them, and being at that first F2F meeting of the Eclipse Location IWG
will be a key step.
Unfortunately I don't think I can make it myself (I'll know better in a
few weeks). If Michael can do it then great, otherwise if another member
of the board was already planning to be at the Location Intelligence
conference in May and interested in participating in the meeting then
please let us know. We could brief you on our exchanges with Eclipse so
far and hopefully you could help carry the flag after.
With respect to funding for ambassador travel, we had a budget for 2011
but I don't remember if we addressed that yet for 2012.

My opinion only, of course, but in the longer term, such an alliance might address some of the things we'd like to do but haven't shown good abilities at -- like fund raising for projects and getting major industry involvement. OSGeo might be considered as two different groups: the community and code development side, which is very good already, and the "business development side" which could be aligned with Eclipse. Again, just my early opinions at this point.
