Just a minor correction: The president is not "stepping down" but the
same person is not running for another term on the board of directors.
These are different thing and this way round it does not sound half as
bad.

If I am informed correctly the president does not have to be a
director and anybody could stay in that position indefinitely until
somebody we trust steps up. I am happy to keep my role until we find
someone who is willing and able to fill in the role. No precedence for
being president-less.
