Thanks Daniel, calendar reminded now changed.
Of note, I'll be on holidays and out of town, and am not sure if I'll
have an internet connection.
My comments in advance are below, in italics.
roll call
appoint meeting chair, meeting scribe/secretary
Review and approve past minutes: Board Meeting 2013-06-13
/
//+1 I approve./
Charter/Board elections update; Decision on how many new Charter
Members are to be added (as per our by laws this year between 14 and 48)
/While I didn't note it at the time, I think that there is value in the
"Charter Membership" being considered as a badge of honour, something
which is difficult to obtain, and something that you only can gain by
being voted into the role. To achieve that, we need to:
1. Have a vote.
2. Only accept a subset of people who apply. Last year we accepted
everyone, and I think that was detrimental to the "Charter Member"
brand. That said, I was in agreement that all proposed candidates were
valuable.
I'm open to the number of people we accept. I suggest it should be at
least as many people as last year, and less than 48. Maybe 25-30?
/ support for QGIS HackFest (sept 12-16) email
asking for second installment: 750 USD

Repairing the OSGeo Service Providers page
volunteers/funding specialists/something
/Can someone please describe what is required to fix this? Once we can
describe what is required, I suggest going to the community and asking
for a voluteer to see if they can fix it (assuming they are provided
with sufficient privileges).
I'm -0 on paying someone to fix it at this point, until we have a
groundswell of people asking for it.
I'm also open to suggesting we turn it off. If companies think it is
worth having, then they will stand up and offer to fix it.
Of note, do we have any metrics about how often it gets used?
/
OSGeo servers security issues
OSGeo Booth at Nottingham
Offer of booth from LOC; do we accept?
/Yes/
booth size needed?
/At FOSS4G 2009, OSGeo had a double booth, and it was a popular booth,
and base for many people.
/ Who to manage booth duty volunteers
/I suggest that board members at the conference should use the booth as
a base.
We are the spokespeople for OSGeo.
/ possibly Jeff to setup wiki and distribute
call-for-volunteers
/+1 Good idea. I suggest that a number of people on the OSGeo Advocate
list will be willing to man the booth. As such, I suggest linking to
Advocate profiles from the wiki you set up./
Changes needed to Elections process
documented at: http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/Category_talk:Elections
likely needs to be put on hold until after elections, but,
important to followup later
/I see this as low priority, where priority determined by finding
volunteers motivated to "scratch an itch" to fix it. Is there a
volunteer sufficiently motivated?/
/OSGeo is still effective under our current arrangement. Cleaning up
bylaws burns up volunteer time without gaining anything productive as a
consequence.
/ Need to update bylaws
http://www.osgeo.org/content/foundation/incorporation/bylaws.html
possible half-day virtual meeting to go through necessary changes?
suggestion by AdrianC: Board could produce an authoritative
list of all the wiki pages considered to be approved
/If someone wishes to take on this task, maybe AdrianC? I'd be happy for
them to do so./
amendments to the bylaws
