[Board] [Geo4All] GeoForAll Budget 2018

Thanks Marc, Jody. I understand. Please send the cost estimate and I will share with GeoForAll list and and send it to the Board. I am ccing Peter Mooney who is GeoForAll main contact for website migration.

The workflow is the main priority. We need to have the form for new labs and info added to the website, updated in the map etc .

Best wishes,

Suchith

They key gap is getting the requirements in place, and identifying a contact point from GroForAll to see it through. Although we did our best with requirements and wire frames the majority of additional ideas happened the moment the beta website was visible.

My off the cuff idea would be to plan for 5k and expect not to use all of it. I only say this as 50% of the “wouldn’t it be nice” ideas have come from the GeoForAll community. And I agree workflow seemed to be the priority; although you may want to just try editing (to see if it would work for you) before spending any money.

Dear Suchith,

We can certainly ask for a pricing of the work.

However, as it concerns Geo4All I strongly suggest that we give you an estimate and you submit this to the Board. Just to follow proper procedure as this is not a Marketing Committee budget item.

Kind regards,
Marc Vloemans

If we delay this, it will only make things more complicated later, so I agree that we do this now using additional efforts.

Students are also contributing hugely to the various OSGeo software projects. We have been discussing many ideas on how we can enable more participation of students and also provide recognition to their contributions. The Student Awards at FOSS4G conferences are the right instrument to enable this.

There is no need to rush into any decision, but I request that there is discussions take place.

I will hope that Mark and LOC will send a detailed plan for this later on their ideas and then Board can decide as appropriate.
