[Board] Proposal: Registration of a Zenodo group for the OSGeo Foundation

Hello Board,

happy new 2025 to you folks !

During the last days there was some activity regarding OSGeo-related communities in Zenodo.

We have now a OSGeo community, but also several potential sub-communities related to OSGeo projects (GRASS, MOSS, GMT) or initiatives (Open Geoscience).

For GRASS an MOSS it was tried to register these communities as sub-communities of OSGeo, which didn't work for us (yet), so I contacted the Zenodo heldesk on this.

In a nutshell: The feature is there, but hasn't been rolled out. They will let us know once we can use this functionality for OSGeo.

It is possible to nest/curate communities inside another on Zenodo such as done in the EU community:
     https://zenodo.org/communities/eu/browse/subcommunities

However this feature is currently not yet ready for general use. I have logged an issue internally to work on generalising this and made a note of the ticket ID to get back to you.

We are involved in a lot of projects with limited capacity and thus we cannot promise if and when we'll get around to implementing your request, nonetheless your feedback is very important for us to be able to prioritise our development as well as which funded projects we engage into.
