We have been running this event since 2021. As an example, see last year?s sprint (in London, held the week after FOSS4G EU in Tartu): https://developer.ogc.org/sprints/23/ This year, we had an issue with the initial host, which left us to organize the sprint very late. We have identified a host in Portugal (?vora), as well as possible dates for the sprint the weeks of July 7-11 and July 21-25. Although we are explicitly avoiding the week of FOSS4G EU, we are aware of the proximity of the two events, and we would not like to leave room for any perturbation in the attendance of FOSS4 EU in Mostar. Do you, as organizers, see any issues with the code sprint being held in the week before or after FOSS4G EU in Mostar? Please let us know as soon as possible so we can plan accordingly. Would it be possible to have a letter of support from OSGeo? Unfortunately the deadline is very on the 14/05 at 12:00 which is very very close (my fault)... but worth to give a try. Maybe a quick online vote would make it possible :-) Here below the short abstract and a template for letter of support. Best, Maxi *ABSTRACT* ReDaS ? Reproducible Data from Sensor Web Services addresses current limitations of geospatial web services in supporting scientific reproducibility and full compliance with FAIR principles. Building on the OGC SensorThings API (STA), the project proposes to extend existing services by introducing a time-travel feature that enables access to historical versions of sensor data. This will allow researchers to cite and retrieve the exact datasets used in a study, even long after data collection. ReDaS also explores fine-grained access control mechanisms to strengthen data sovereignty and promote responsible data sharing. The proposed solutions will be developed and validated through collaboration with three environmental research infrastructures (eLTER, TERENO, and a UNESCO ecohydrology site). With an open and participatory approach, the project aims to support the broader scientific community in building more transparent, sustainable, and reproducible data services. *Letter of Support template* ----------------------------------- To whom it may concern, We would like to express our support for the project proposal titled: "ReDaS: Reproducible Data from Sensor Web Services. Enabling trusted integration of environmental sensor data in research infrastructures through open, reproducible web services". We consider the project relevant to the development of open, FAIR-aligned, and reproducible digital services for environmental research using Open Source Software and Open Standard. Its focus on enhancing interoperability through the implementation of a SensorThings API extension for traveltime for permanent URL access addresses concrete needs in the management and use of environmental monitoring data and science reproducibility. We welcome initiatives such as?ReDaS that aim to strengthen the connection between research, technological innovation, and long-term service adoption within research infrastructures. The GRASS project will now be transitioning to use NumFOCUS as a fiscal sponsor (motions: Nov 2024 and May 2025 ). The short-term goal is to have a lightweight way to create invoices for our sponsors. In the long-term, we aim to build up a budget to directly support ongoing maintenance in addition to the OSGeo projects budget assigned to GRASS which is now mostly used for student grants and sprints. GRASS will continue to present itself as an OSGeo Project and now also as a NumFOCUS Fiscally Sponsored Project. I will follow up with Mike Smith later as we go through onboarding with NumFOCUS. I have previously discussed the general ideas and GDAL experience with Mike as the OSGeo Treasurer and with Howard Butler as a GDAL team member. While not directly related to the fiscal sponsorship, I will add here other updates from the GRASS project: We aligned our branding with OSGeo branding, currently renewing, e.g., the OSGeo project flyer, and we are now using GRASS, not GRASS GIS, as the project name (news item ).
