Thanks Peter. Good idea to have proactive activities in RDA and EGU.

I chair the Geospatial IG of RDA [1] and doing my best promote Geo open principles (open data, open standards, free and open source software, open access to research publications) in RDA and expand ideas for Geospatial Data Science. Geospatial IG will have our meeting at Berlin , so I invite you to make use of the opportunity to present these ideas.

Best wishes,
Subject: [Board] AGU Enabling FAIR project / opportunities in 2018

Dear Jeff, Suchith, board,

thanks for your positive responses. I will set up a wiki page as a central information hub about this project from the OSGeo persepctive early next week. Since OSgeo stand both for OPEN and FAIR, I really believe that the project will beenfit from our input.

I totally agree with Suchith that OSGeo should become more visible in the scientific data communities like RDA and CODATA.
In this vein, here is a heads up for two upcoming opportunities in 2018:

- March 2018: The Research Data Alliance (RDA) Plenary will hosted in Berlin. I'm Berlin-based and in touch with the organizers. It would be very easy to arrange for a OSGeo-themend session, BoF, or similar.

- Early April: At the European Geoscience Unions General Assembly (EGU GA) in Vienna, we will (hopefully) have another OSGeo Townhall or splinter veent, organised by the Open Geoscience Committee. The AGU project intends to also host a meeting @ EGU, so there will be opportunities for both communites to mingle.

Best,
Peter
