Hi once more,
having consulted with Vasile, I'm reposting our FOSS4G Europe 2024
proposal for a wider review to both conference-europe and conference-dev
lists. Long story short: my bad, got the "waiting for moderator
approval" for my initial message to conference-europe and did not go
through the fine print immediately, which clearly stated "message body
is too big".
Our proposal is still the same (see the forwarded mail below) but
attachments are now replaced by links instead:

Sorry for the confusion. If there's any questions I'd be happy to answer
them.
All the best,
Tõnis Kärdi

Dear conference-europe team,
On behalf of the self-organized and preparatory LOC I'm very honored to
submit the proposal for holding the FOSS4G Europe 2024 conference in the
beautiful city of Tartu, Estonia. The conference would be organized in
cooperation with the University of Tartu Department of Geography, and
would take place between 1. July-7. July 2024 following the rather
"standard" FOSS4G conference schedule: 2 days of workshops, followed by
3 days of main conference, and finishing off with 2 days for code
sprint. "What about the social events?" I can hear you ask. Yes, these
are also planned. Ice breaker on Wednesday evening. The main party on
Thursday evening (and I have to confess at least I am very excited about
the location for the main party) in Lodjakoda - a recently rebuilt river
barge building hall just next to the river Emajõgi about 10 minutes walk
upstream from the city center.
Tartu is one of the 2024 European Culture Capitals so we expect a lot to
be happening in and around the town leading up, during, and after the
conference. I would be our pleasure to share this with you.
The estimated ticket prices would be 150/200 EUR (early bird/regular)
for the main conference. As this is a regional FOSS4G conference then we
are looking for ways to make the event more accessible to university
students by offering them reduced ticket prices for 50/75 (early
bird/regular respectively). Workshops would run their own ticketing at
25/50 (early bird/regular respectively) per piece.
The whole proposal in a more detailed form is attached to this e-mail
(FOSS4GE_2024_Tartu_Proposal.pdf) as well as the accompanying budget
plan (FOSS4GE_2024_Budget_Breakdown_plan.pdf). The budget plan assesses
three scenarios based on expected number of participants: 200, 300, and
400 - with 300 being the most realistic.
Should you have any questions, I would be more than happy to answer them.
All the best,
Tõnis Kärdi
