It sounds really good to me because I would also be very very sad if we 
drop the "F".

1) http://foss4g.osgeo.org/YEAR (e.g. http://foss4g.osgeo.org/2007) will 
allow people to easily retrieve the content of previous editions of the 
conference, i.e. all conferences hosted on one site.

2) The domain name osgeo.org "translates" the fact that the event is now 
hosted/organised by the OSGEO.

3) The "F" and FOSS4G are preserved and they benefit to OSGEO as it 
clearly appears as a component of OSGEO. Thus, the relationship between 
the conference and the foundation is clearly displayed.

4) and OSGEO appears as an umbrella for hosting and promoting Free and 
Open Source Software.
