As suggested by Cameron Shorter, I'm forwarding an e-mail which I sent to
some FOSS4G 2012 LOC members and volunteers, which shows my idea on
redirecting FOSS4G attendance to other conferences.

Please share your ideas.

Dear all,

Very sorry that I suggested to keep the meeting myself but failed to show
up. Embarrassing.

I was thinking that, since FOSS4G 2012 is cancelled, we can help to
redirect the planned FOSS4G traffic to other conferences. In September,
there will be Asia Geospatial Forum in Hanoi and State of the Map in Tokyo.
If people are not going for the Beijing event, how about those instead ?

I've contacted the Tokyo team, and they say they can add a parallel 1-3
day(s) FOSS4G-focused track to their conference if Tokyo University can
provide venue support. They are talking to the university and OSGeo Japan
local chapter now. I haven't contacted the Hanoi team yet because they
already have a OSGeo season. (We may encourage them to expend it though.)

There will be more conferences in October (and later). Should we talk to
these teams and see what they can do ? Besides, is it possible for the
Beijing LOC to provide the list of registered people so these conferences
can send out invitations to our FOSS4G lovers ? [Update: This should be
already done.]

I know that it's impossible to make-up completely for the loss of FOSS4G
2012 now. But redirecting the traffic to other related conferences is at
least better than "no conference this time, just forget it".
