We have just got in contact with LOC last week and our first priority was to provide any needed assistance to get the website updated.  The updated site is to be launched this weekend or next week. I will also travel to Beijing in a couple of weeks and expect to meet LOC members on things we can assist.

Hi. Another native Chinese here.

I've checked the website and found some issues.

1. The "FOSS4G Beijing Map"  http://2012.foss4g.org/map.html link 
(2012.foss4g.org/map.html) leads to an annoying 404.

2. The  http://foss4g2012.mymova.com/custom/SPONSORS sponsors page 
(goo.gl/JNie4) of the mymova.com website shows more sponsors than 
http://2012.foss4g.org/index.php?m=content&c=index&a=lists&catid=16 the
counterpart  (goo.gl/A7aSn) of the new foss4g.org site. This seems to be
really weird. Was the new page copied from some out-dated source ?

3. Lots of pages are left as scary blanks. While some of them can't be
filled at the moment (for example, the " http://goo.gl/sN4up Plenary
Speakers " page (goo.gl/sN4up) because the list is not decided yet), a line
explaining what's going to happen there plus a link to  http://goo.gl/xGv9D
the timeline page  (goo.gl/xGv9D) would be much more helpful than the empty
space or the bloody red "coming soon" text.

4. If someone who knows little about the OSGeo community comes to the
website, he/she would have to go a long way before discovering any of those
related mail lists. A subscribe link on the homepage would make it much
easier for those interested to keep up with the progress. More "modern"
solutions like RSS, tweeting and Facebook/Google+ fan page updating can also
help. (Some alternatives may be necessary for China Mainland people. See the
next point.)

5. Some info provided on the wiki, like  http://goo.gl/4xiBd this  Google
Doc (goo.gl/4xiBd), may be inaccessible to China Mainland visitors due to
the censorship (so-called Great Firewall). The need to avoid censorship and
maximize accessibility should be kept in mind when anything closely related
to FOSS4G 2012 is published in the future. If necessary, I will compose a
post about the GFW and methods needed to minimize its negative effects on
the conference. Which mail list should I post to ? This one ? FOSS4G2012 ?
The general discussion list ? Would a wiki entry followed by a mail list
notice message serve the purpose better ?

6. Minor website design issues.

Beside improving the wiki and giving suggestions like above, is there any
way new comers like me can get more involved ?
