<div dir="ltr">Hello Luca; Hello Jeroen;<div><br></div><div>Thank you for your email and feedback in regards to our letter of intent and especially in regards to the proposed date.</div><div><br></div><div>The [University of Bristol] venue booking system is the reason for the chosen date. The academic year and associated bookings begin in August which only allows for booking after the previous Easter holidays. This means that we would be able to securely book the venue for July 2027 in April 2026. Hosting in August/September is not impossible but we would only be able to secure the booking in April 2027 for August 2027. Our main concern is that we cannot get event insurance without a secure booking and won't be able to sell tickets prior to this.</div><div><br></div><div>Are there any particular regional events or other dates to look out for in 2027? I believe it was suggested that the European FOSS4G is not held in years when the global FOSS4G is hosted in Europe. FOSS4G:NA was hosted in November this year, just two weeks after FOSS4G Auckland, which is not ideal. FOSS4G:Asia will be hosted in January 2026. The only other large regional event that I am aware of is FOSSGIS [Germany, Austria, Switzerland] which is usually organised in March.</div><div><br></div><div>Best,</div><div>Dennis</div></div><br><div class="gmail_quote gmail_quote_container"><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_attr">On Sat, 27 Dec 2025 at 13:59, Jeroen Ticheler <<a href="mailto:jeroen.ticheler@geocat.net">jeroen.ticheler@geocat.net</a>> wrote:<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 0.8ex;border-left:1px solid rgb(204,204,204);padding-left:1ex"><div dir="ltr">Dear Dennis,<div><br></div><div>Thanks for you and your team to offer hosting of the global FOSS4G!</div><div><br></div><div>To provide a little context with what Luca wrote: we would very much like the global FOSS4G to target the August-October timeframe, while regional conferences target an opposite period (~March-May).
