That is amazing news.
 
I'd imagine that because the libraries are based on GRASS that they will only be available under GPL, not LGPL?

Dear All,

We've 12 persons working for the project: 5 for GRASS C-API, 5 for the GUI, 2 for the Docs. The 1st version (for windows and Red Flag Linux) will be completed at the end of this year. It'll has 7 modules (Genral, DB, Imagery, Raster, Raster3d, Vector, In-out) and around 200 C-functions, and a GUI much like ArcMap/ArcCatalog based on QT. The C-API will be put under GRASS branch after the inital work finished. Hope that it'll be helpful for more popular uses and more applications and more services based on GRASS. Thank you for your helpful seggestions.
