I sent this to the California Mailing List, but I thought I would post
it here in addition. We don't get a lot of traffic on the California
list, and there may be subscribers to the Discuss list that would be
interested in attending.

Thanks,

Landon

Subject: Proposed Meeting To Discuss California Chapter of OSGeo

I'd like to propose a meeting to discuss the formation of a California
or a Central Valley Chapter of the OSGeo on September 27, 2008, in
Stockton, California.

I don't have the money for a proper meeting place, but my wife will let
me use my garage...It's roomy, and I thought we could barbeque, since
the weather in Stockton is very pleasant in the fall. This would give us
a chance to meet face-to-face. We can discuss what we might like a local
chapter of the OSGeo to accomplish. We could also talk about are
areas-of-interest. Perhaps common areas-of-interest would provide
fertile ground for chapter goals and activities.

At any rate, if you are interested in attending this meeting, please let
me know. If there is enough interest (six [6] or more people?) then I
will begin to make arrangements for the meeting. This will include an
agenda and perhaps arranging for some speakers.

Just putting some feelers out...

Landon
