GRACE (GNSS Research and Applications Centre of Excellence) http://www.grace.ac.uk  of University of Nottingham is holding a workshop for organisations and individuals planning to submit an entry into the 2009 European Satellite Navigation Competition. 

Details below:

ESNC (European Satellite Navigation Competition) Ideas Workshop - University of Nottingham
1st July 2009
Location: Exchange Building, Jubilee Campus, University of Nottingham

Entry into the competition closes on the 31st of July and this is your opportunity to;

•	learn more about this year’s competition 
•	hear from the experiences of previous winners 
•	have confidential one on one discussions about your idea with 
•	Competition judges 
•	GNSS experts 
•	Business advisors

The overall winner will receive a €20,000 prize and this year, GRACE will provide the winner of the UK competition with up to £5000 worth of support in developing their idea further.

In recent years, the winning innovations have included a rescue system for persons who have fallen overboard at sea; a mobile, GPS-supported social network; a mobile phone-based guidance system that aids more economical driving; a remote monitoring system for recovering heart patients; a Web 2.0 platform that delivers location-based videos in real time; and a flood prediction system.

Cost: Free to SME's & budding entrepreneurs.

Judging of the UK winner will take place during September 2009 with the overall European winner being announced at the Munich Systems Fair on the 21st of October 2009.

Who should attend?

The ESNC provides an opportunity for SMEs, new start-ups and budding entrepreneurs to enter the growing market for applications using satellite navigation technology in preparation for the advent of Galileo. This year GRACE will provide the winner of the UK competition with up to £5000 worth of support in developing their idea further.
