Dear list,

I'm a newby in this list. I have been working with R language to produce a set of different analysis of animal movement. Now, I'm more interested in visualization issues of this king of data. I have wrote some scripts to export animal tracks to Google Earth and take advantatge of its timeline application to display spatiotemporal data. However, the possibilities that allow the Tracking Analyst extension of ArcGIS are better for the enduser (i.e. symbology, configuration of actions). In addition, coupling Tracking Analyst with 3D analyst it would be possible to display animated track within a 3D model. As now I'm interested to work with fish tracks inside a lake I cannot use Google Earth to display 3D data.
So, I'm wondering if you could suggest me any alternative to my needs using any open source software or a combination of them.

Best regards,
