Might be of interest to some here. The company I've been working for
lately is organizing a transit-focused hackathon:

------
Join Clever Devices for a day-long Hackathon to create unique
visualization techniques based on transit bus datasets. Participants
will be given data collected by transit buses and will be challenged to
develop improved ways of making sense of the data. At the end of the
Hackathon, submissions will be evaluated by a panel of judges and a
total of $5,500 in prize money will be awarded as follows: Gold -
$4,000; Silver - $1,000 and Bronze - $500.

*Date:* Saturday, July 27, 2013
*Time:* 8:30 am to 5:30 pm
*Location:* Clever Devices Offices, 300 Crossways Park Drive, Woodbury,
New York, 11787
