[OSGeo-Discuss] [OSGeo-Standards] ESRI, please publicly share reasons for given for adopting the GeoServices REST API

Does the OGC still have any credibility as a transparent standards
organization after this?

I'm very disappointed in ESRI and OGC based on what I've heard so far.
Pretty hard to believe this is coming from the folks that first published
the Shapefile specification that made a lot of open source GIS software
practical. I guess that is what happens when there is a lot of short term
profits on the line.

How short-sighted. I hope they change their mind.
