Hi all,

I have used the FIG Commission 3 meetings http://com3fig.wix.com/fig-commission3-2014 in Bologna, Italy last week to also explore ideas for joint collaborations/building training programs based on Social Tenure Domain Model (STDM) which is a pro poor land information tool. Details at http://www.stdm.gltn.net which is part of The Global Land Tool Network (GLTN) project supported by UN-Habitat using OSGeo software . As many of you know, it is based on a data model implemented using Postgres and PostGIS and a front end plugin based on QGIS.

I also presented keynote on "Open Geospatial Science and its role in Surveying Education" and i outlined the current activities we are doing at “Geo for All” . Details at http://media.wix.com/ugd/5f88f2_cd84075020c64c6daef1799f9e83238e.pdf

The Global Land Tool Network (GLTN) http://www.gltn.net main objective is to contribute to poverty alleviation and the Millennium Development Goals through land reform, improved land management and security of tenure. There is a good overview at http://www.stdm.gltn.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/Designing-a-Land-Records-System-for-The-Poor.pdf

There is already a partnership agreement between OSGeo http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/GLTN for this, so i thought to do my bit to support this in whatever way i can. I am hoping that we can build some good ideas for joint collaborations/ training programs for the future.

Best wishes,

Suchith
