Thank you for all your comment.
I organized a meeting with the organizing committee yesterday and we
discussed all these topics:

-Regarding the limitation to French speaking presentations: again, one of
the main aim of our event is involving our African trainees in the freeGIS
environment and presenting them a (small part) of its capabilities. In this
context, this must be a French speaking event because they are not
bilingual.

-About the fact that there is no call of paper: it is our first experience
in free GIS event and we have very limited manpower and financial
resources. So, for now, it is easier to organize a closed event where we
invite the speakers by ourselves. However, we are pleased to hear and read
the interest raised by our freeGIS day. So we are open and enthusiastic to
discuss with you the organization of a broader (and multilingual) event
next year. If it suits you, maybe we should discuss it during our event?

-Finally, we discussed the name of the event: we chose to change it in “
Be-OpenGIS”

Kind regards,
Maë//e

N.B at Johan: Thanks a lot for your conatct Marleen VAN DAMME, she will be
there.
