Hello,
As some may already know, the OGC and the W3C have recently started a
unique collaboration project, the Spatial Data on the Web Working Group
(SDWWG) <https://www.w3.org/2015/spatial/wiki/Main_Page>. Simply put,
the task of the group is to make it easier to publish and use
geographical raw data on the World Wide Web. Coincidentally, standards
and best practices for doing that could also be used on more closed off
webs. More details about the goals of the working group can be found in
the working group's charter <http://www.w3.org/2015/spatial/charter>.
At the moment the working group is collecting use cases that should be a
source of requirements for further work. See this page
<https://www.w3.org/2015/spatial/wiki/Working_Use_Cases> for the current
collection of use cases. Only members of the working group (OGC and W3C
members can join) can directly add use cases, but of course suggestions
from other interested parties are very welcome. The working group's
mission is best accomplished with broad community support.
If you are unable to become a member, but still would like to
contribute, you can use the e-mail list for public comments:
public-sdw-comments at w3.org <mailto:public-sdw-comments at w3.org>. Use
cases will be collected until the first of March of this year. If you
have wishes or requirements without a clear use case it is still
worthwhile to post them.
Regards,
Frans
