Hi Suchith,
There's a list of > 2,500 global Open Data portals here:
http://opendatainception.io/

All nicely mapped (but you can get the raw table too).

With these, I believe the Open refers to the data; the software behind them may or may not be Open Source.
You may be able to get a few students to go through them and try and figure out which are using Open Source software and contact them directly.

Cheers,
Jonathan

  Hi Cameron,

Thanks for this. I have added the two case studies that i am aware of (Warwickshire County Council and Royal borough of Windsor and Maidenhead) into this page. I request that wider community help with this and add more.

For example , there are many SMEs in the UK (Aston, Dotted Eyes, Lutra, Envitia, ThinkWhere, SCISYS etc etc). I am sure there are all working on many government and local authority projects, so if all of them can help put the examples of their projects summaries, it will help everyone. It will be promotion of the SMEs as well as help show the examples that other government departments can learn from and also help create best practices.

Jo and others have created case studies at http://www.osgeo.org/uk/case_studies but this needs to be expanded rapidly and we need the community and SMEs to come forward and share their projects.

 All ideas welcome.

 Suchith

 1. Start collating casestudies of successful migrations from central and local governments [3] in the UK. We will need colleagues in OSGeo:UK chapter to help with this and link this to the OSGeo:UK website.
 Hi Suchith,
People have been collecting OSGeo Case Studies for a while. There is a good collection here:
